Dr. João Felipe Galvão é diplomado pelo American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) na especialidade de Small Animal Internal Medicine(SAIM).  Atualmente é chefe do serviço de Internal Medicine (Medicina interna) do Hospital Veterinário VCA Arboretum Viewem Chicago e Professor assistente adjunto (Adjunct Assistant Professor) da The Ohio State University.


Currículo:

-Graduação em Medicina Veterinária pela Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária da UFMG (2004).

-Residência em Clínica Médica de Pequenos Animais pela FMVZ UNESP-Botucatu (2005-2006).

-“Clínical year” realizado na University of Wisconsin (2006-2007), onde concluiu o ECFVG (Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates: programa para estrangeiros que desejam adquirir a licença de médico veterinário nos EUA). 

-Internato em Small Animal Medicine and Surgery na Purdue University (2007-2008).

-Residência em Small Animal Internal Medicine na The Ohio State University (2008-2011) e mestrado em Comparative Veterinary Medicine pela mesma universidade (2008-2011).

-Veterinary Practice Management Program (VPMP) pela Purdue University, Krannert Business School (2016-2018).

-Diretor médico do VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital de 2012-2016.  Obs: O VCA Arboretum View está entre os 25 hospitais veterinários mais produtivos da rede, que conta com mais de 700 unidades nos EUA.

-Diretor do programa de internato do VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital de 2015-2016.

Atuação profissional:

Atendimento clínico na área de Small Animal Internal Medicine e palestrante conhecido internacionalmente, ministrando mais de 100 horas de palestras por ano.

As áreas de interesse dentro da medicina interna de pequenos animais são diversas: doenças gastroentéricas, endócrinas, hepatobiliares, renais e urológicas, doenças imunomediadas e distúrbios eletrolíticos. 

Além dos atendimentos clínicos, tem vasta experiência com procedimentos minimamente invasivos: rinoscopia, endoscopia gastrointestinal, cistoscopia, broncoscopia, litotripsia, ablação de ureter com laser, biopsia de fígado via laparoscopia, entre outros. Sua atuação em procedimentos avançados na área de radiologia intervencionista e endoscopia intervencionista se destacam, visto que pouquíssimos profissionais atuam nesta área no mundo. Os procedimentos incluem: colocação de stent ureteral via cistoscopia, colocação de “subcutaneous ureteral by-pass”, cistolitotomia percutânea, colocação de stent ureteral percutâneo, colocação de stent uretral e traqueal, entre outros.
